Description

In The Kinky Kitsune And The Tantalizing Tanuki, Kouta Urabe is an unattractive, obese man in his forties who has had enough of working himself into misery. Depressed, exhausted, and recently divorced, he decides that hard work and self-restraint have done him few favors. He leaves his lucrative job at the company owned by his ex-wife’s family, who, upon discovering her affair, give him a substantial bonus for his years of service along with a settlement to compensate for her infidelity. With money in hand and little reason to stay, Kouta sets out to start over. His destination is a rundown, nearly abandoned house in the countryside that belonged to his late grandfather. Kouta plans to restore the property and settle into a quieter life, taking responsibility for the small shrine next door as well. Unlike the neglected house, the shrine has remained remarkably well preserved under his parents’ care. A miniature archway marks its entrance, with two smaller, moss-covered statues of harvest goddesses standing on either side. Though Kouta cannot recall ever visiting the shrine, he is now its caretaker—and he soon discovers that he is not the only one looking after it. When Kouta remarks aloud on the shrine’s surprisingly good condition despite his parents’ limited attention, an unexpected voice claims the credit. Before him stands Onatsu: a short, plump woman with silver hair, bronze skin, fuzzy ears, a fluffy tail, and an outfit that more or less resembles a shrine maiden’s attire. A kitsune who has lived at the shrine for generations, she shares it with her tanuki companion, Otama. What began as a retreat from a draining career and a broken marriage becomes a fresh start with two decidedly unusual neighbors: a kinky kitsune and a tantalizing tanuki.
