Description

A century ago, border skirmishes between humans, elves, and orcs erupted into The Grieving—a savage war that those living through it believed would decide which race would dominate the world. Instead, the three-sided struggle claimed nearly a fifth of the world’s population and drove the survivors into an era of global isolation. Humanity withdrew from the affairs of the other races, securing a peace that has endured ever since. In The Hylann Defense Corps, you take on the role of Ashton, a recruit in the 107th Trainee Unit. Alongside his fellow trainees, he is nearing the final stages of preparation to join the HDC, the Hylann Dynasty’s principal military force. With origins reaching back to The Grieving, the corps remains a cornerstone of the Dynasty’s defenses, though it is now only a shadow of its former strength. Beyond the Dynasty’s lush shores, however, ominous signs threaten the comfort of a century spent apart from the wider world. As Ashton and his unit prepare to enter military service, the peace they have known rests uneasily against the cost of knowing so little about what lies beyond their borders.
