In Superfly, you arrive in Kagero-mura carrying more money than you care to account for, with a reservation at a ryokan whose finest days are long behind it. The village is slowly emptying—a dozen houses have fallen vacant in just three years—but its annual festival still brings it briefly back to life. After the festivities, the valley observes another yearly tradition: a ceremony that no one will explain to outsiders. After dark, Kagero-mura comes down to five people. Suzume, the innkeeper’s niece, has not left the valley in six years. Akane organizes the festival, keeping the town afloat at the cost of her own mounting debt. Mio wants nothing from you, an indifference that becomes the game’s most erotic attraction. Goro, the taxi driver, offers truths everyone else keeps hidden. And Yuriko, the ryokan’s okami, controls the invitations to the one night each year when Kagero-mura sets aside the question of who wants what.
