Spiritus Familiae is a dark visual novel following 18-year-old Sierra Tenebris as she returns home after five years in juvenile detention. She expects a lukewarm welcome, but instead discovers a family falling apart and a town concealing dangerous, potentially deadly secrets. Among those mysteries is the truth about her own birth, drawing her homecoming into a deeply personal story of fractured relationships and hidden histories. The narrative explores complex, heavy themes, including sexual violence in its backstory and Sierra’s past, but rape and similar acts are neither shown on screen nor available as player choices. Hard NTR is likewise excluded as a playable or visually depicted element, although three optional love interests have existing relationships that approach that territory. One has a sexually active relationship with an off-screen partner, while two others are sexually involved with each other. Sierra can eventually break up the latter relationship, and early dialogue explicitly references their sexual activity; depending on player choices, she may also participate. All three romance arcs are optional, though two of these characters remain central to the story even when their relationships with Sierra stay platonic. Family incest is an explicit, non-optional component of the game, involving Sierra’s three sisters and their mother, with those familial relationships identified directly rather than disguised through substitute labels. Sierra is an intersex woman who identifies as a lesbian; the game describes all intimate scenes as either “futa × female” or “futa × futa.” Heavy Judeo-Christian imagery and themes, often presented in corrupted forms, further shape the story’s dark atmosphere.
