In Shapeshifter, you take on the role of a shapeshifter sent to the king’s court with a deadly mission: kill the monarch and take his place. Learning his preferences is part of the experience, but you cannot rely on knowledge from a previous run—the king’s tastes are generated anew with every playthrough. Built in Twine, this classic choice-driven game combines text with images and videos. You can take notes to keep track of what the king likes and dislikes, giving you a useful reference as you navigate the court and make your decisions. Your choices can also affect your surroundings and the way events involving NPCs unfold. Even a detail such as whether your character has nipple piercings can lead to different event content, allowing your decisions to shape more than just your character’s appearance.
