Description

Leslie White once had an innocent, idealized view of romance—until she caught her first boyfriend cheating with her “best friend.” Devastated by the betrayal, she resolved never to form another emotional attachment. From then on, relationships would be about having a good time, not risking her heart. But keeping her feelings out of the equation does little to keep trouble out of her everyday life. As problems mount, Leslie’s parents decide to transfer her to Santa Catalina, an all-girls reform high school. In Santa Catalina Gakuen, that change of surroundings brings her into contact with girls whose experiences challenge the way she sees both herself and the world. Through these new connections, Leslie begins to discover how complicated life can be beyond her own heartbreak. The painful histories of the girls around her put her suffering into perspective, confronting her with experiences far harsher than her own—and challenging the emotional distance she has chosen to maintain.
