In Photo Hunt, you play a character sent against his will to live at his mother’s house, only to discover that the city he once knew has changed dramatically. A single mistake has cost him his siblings’ trust, leaving him with no money, no love, and little more than a new camera and the determination to turn his life around. Rebuilding his prospects means exploring his surroundings, developing his abilities, and navigating relationships shaped by more than the conflicts on the surface. Built in Ren’Py, Photo Hunt combines visual novel storytelling with ADV and role-playing elements. Locations become available as the story progresses, with some accessible only at particular times of day and others unrestricted by the clock. You can develop charisma, strength, sneaking, intellect, hacking, and photography skills, opening up new actions and scenes or expanding existing encounters. These attributes influence more than your options: a high intellect, for example, can prompt your character to say or do something clever automatically, changing how a scene unfolds. The nonlinear story is designed around replayability, with different paths revealing fresh scenes and additional details about the characters. Both your developed abilities and earlier actions can affect later encounters, making the course of the narrative depend on several interconnected factors. The overall story has already been outlined, while work continues on its images, dialogue, and Ren’Py logic. The planned final version will feature 11 girls with distinct appearances, personalities, preferences, attitudes, and secrets, most of whom are closely tied to the central story beneath its everyday tensions. Visual individuality is another focus. Using a purchased collection of models that allows thousands of combinations, the developer has manually customized each female character, from nail color to body shape. The aim is a varied, attractive cast in which no two models look alike, giving players a range of distinctive characters to get to know.
