Earth has fallen, and humanity’s survival depends on finding a new home among the stars. Pursued by the Syntras—the machines mankind once created—the remnants of civilization travel through space in a vast convoy of ships. With their relentless hunters never far behind, the fleet must prepare a new generation to fight a war that is far from over. Among these vessels is the Petulantia, an aging, battered training ship repurposed as a makeshift academy for aspiring pilots. Assigned to oversee a small group of young female cadets is Commander Viktor Bratt, a once-legendary fighter pilot now tasked with shaping the fleet’s future combat crews. On paper, his students are there to become the next generation of fighter pilots. In reality, they were sent to the Petulantia because the regular academies deemed them too chaotic, too impulsive, or simply too difficult to handle. Bratt must turn this unpredictable collection of cadets into capable combat pilots at a time when the fleet desperately needs them. Against the backdrop of humanity’s flight from extinction, Petulantia centers on a worn-out ship, an unruly class, and a commander facing a formidable training assignment. The Syntras are everywhere, and finding a new home does not mean escaping the fight.
