Description

In Parallax, the near future belongs to those who wield power behind closed doors and through operations they can deny. You are a soldier employed by Aegis, the largest defence contractor in existence. Until now, you have asked for nothing beyond that role and never questioned the reasons behind your orders. But obedience offers little certainty when the true source of authority remains out of sight. Everyone has a different explanation for who is really in control. Perhaps the contractors have grown more powerful than the states that licensed them. Perhaps wars are kept alive to deliver another year of revenue growth. Or perhaps an exclusive circle at the top makes the decisions—a club you will never belong to. These competing theories leave you facing an uncomfortable question: who has the right to decide what you should believe is right or wrong? Built around the idea that neither a river nor the person stepping into it stays the same, Parallax explores the uncertainty of change, understanding, and unquestioned conviction. If hatred comes from a failure to understand, what happens when you begin to examine the beliefs you have accepted without hesitation? It is time to wake up.
