Description

Orphan is an adult dark fantasy choose-your-own-adventure set in a dying neo-Rome, devastated by Sorcery and ruled by the Blade. Violence, magic, sex, and intrigue shape an unforgiving society where life is short, brutal, and coarse. Within the decaying city-state of Cradle, fallen nobles vie for power in the shadows, while sorcery, corruption, and rampant slavery permeate everyday existence. You begin as a nobody—but whether you remain one is another matter. Cradle sprawls across one side of an immense crater carved into the frozen surface of a doomed planet. The basin is so vast that neither its opposite side nor its crumbling rim high above can be seen with the naked eye. Overhead, a purple gas giant hangs against the darkness of space, seemingly close enough to touch, bathing much of the world in a luminous violet haze. Relentless slavery sustains the daily misery of Cradle’s multiracial population. Cracked cobblestone streets plunge deep into the earth, leading toward the poorest and lowest of its inhabitants. Steam seeps through a ruined maze of pitch-black alleys and shadowed lairs, far beneath the city’s struggles for influence. Here begins the story of a boy whose destiny was stolen from him. What follows will determine whether he can steal it back.
