This visual novel takes you into a bleak, distant future—not as a heroic marine or Imperial guardsman, but as a mid-level official serving a dying science-fiction regime. Buried in the paperwork and red tape needed to govern uncounted worlds, you face the seemingly impossible task of making a failing empire function. Settle disputes, untangle problems, and hear out angry citizens as you try to do your job, endure the Imperium, and serve the Emperor. Choose the traits that shape your approach: a schizophrenic empath, a paranoid bureaucratic genius, or a nihilistic manipulator. There is no grinding, and money is not something you need to chase. As a reasonably high-ranking member of the organization that runs everything, your authority carries more weight than cash. That influence attracts attention, including women hoping to sway your decisions with sex rather than a stack of bills. Others, from lonely guards to bored scribes, simply want companionship or a little pleasure amid the misery of everyday life. Your duties take you across a continent, through cities and their underworlds, and out to the coast, where you can pause to listen to a song. Along the way, encounter soldiers, workers, nobles, picked men, and pilgrims, as well as wanderers, gangsters, sinners, saints, scam artists, and grieving mothers. Become a hero or a villain in the lives of the people you meet, pursue intimate encounters with a wide variety of women, or keep your attention firmly on the paperwork.
