In Human Interest, your uncle’s death leaves you with a factory—and an inheritance tangled in the restrictions of Kessmarck. This port city is home to kin of every breed, but humans are barely tolerated. You need a license just to live there, a sponsor to use a bank, and a kin’s name alongside your own to hold property. Taking over the family business means navigating a city where human independence comes with conditions at every turn. You arrive with only two dollars and a borrowed room in your childhood friend’s home, where her mother keeps the rent book. From that precarious starting point, you must pay off the estate, secure a backer, and rebuild the factory. Along the way, you’ll investigate why Kessmarck keeps such a tight hold on its human residents—and why so many of the city’s women seem particularly interested in you. Developed by NACRElixir, Human Interest is currently a text-based game, with character portraits planned for version 0.2. Version 0.1 was released on October 23, 2026, and is available uncensored in English for Windows through itch.io.
