Description

In Heartsworn Abyss: NighTmaRes, jaded pawnbroker Rei Tsukiyora scrapes by in Miyogawa’s seedy underworld. One evening, he encounters a despondent Akari Hashimoto on the run from her captors. Unwilling to leave a young girl alone on the dangerous streets, he reluctantly offers her shelter until she can find her footing. What begins as a temporary refuge, however, soon turns into a far more lasting arrangement. Akari’s privileged upbringing could hardly be further removed from Rei’s precarious existence, yet the two settle into a shared life that proves surprisingly manageable—and occasionally amusing. But leaving her life as an heiress behind does not mean Akari can escape its consequences. Her striking beauty and prominent status draw the attention of Ryuichi Satou, the head of Miyogawa’s largest company, who pours his considerable resources into winning her over. When an angry Ryuichi confronts the pair at Rei’s home, Akari rejects him outright. Humiliated, the scorned prodigy devises an elaborate plan to seize control of her company and, ultimately, her heart. His ambitions turn cruel: he vows to corrupt her innocence completely and consign Rei to an everlasting abyss, threatening the fragile life the pair have built together. From beginning to end, Heartsworn Abyss is made by humans, for humans, with a commitment to using no AI.
