Description

City of Secrets drops you into the life of Emma, a young woman starting her college years in a city she barely knows. What should be a fresh start quickly turns unsettling when strange, recurring dreams begin to blur the line between sleep and waking life—dreams that soon bleed into reality and bind her to a contract with her very soul on the line. From the moment that bargain is struck, Emma’s new beginning becomes a fight to understand what she never agreed to.

Presented in hand-drawn 2D art with fully animated scenes, this 2DCG visual novel from developer TheDarkLight blends fantasy and mystery with mature themes of corruption and exhibitionism. As Emma, you’ll navigate a cast of characters who alternately aid and oppose her, weighing every alliance and betrayal as the story pushes toward the truth. The animated presentation keeps each encounter vivid, while the branching narrative lets the tension build with every choice.

Beneath the surface, a powerful organization works from the shadows, and Emma’s path keeps pulling her closer to a grand conspiracy tied directly to the bargain she never chose to make. Each relationship you cultivate and each secret you uncover brings her one step nearer to the answers—and to the people determined to keep them buried. The mix of fantasy intrigue, corruption-driven storylines, and bold character design gives the experience its edge, and it’s all wrapped in a mystery that rewards paying attention.

Version 0.17.00 continues to expand Emma’s story with new content and refinements, making this the ideal time to jump in.
