Instead, the experiments spiraled out of control, releasing an unknown “collapse factor” from the experimental samples. It attacked organic cells and electronic devices alike, unleashing biological mutations and mechanical runaways that culminated in the Great Collapse. In the aftermath, cities lie in ruins, nature has been distorted, and science and technology have ceased to function. Amid this devastation, the sole surviving AI command center, Stellar Core, remains as a remnant of the former experimental base. Holding fragments of experimental data and information about the post-collapse world, it reaches out through faint radio signals to contact a survivor who may be humanity’s last hope. You are that survivor—the last living cyborg, carrying an implanted gene that grants resistance to the collapse factor. Able to function normally even in areas with high concentrations of the factor, you are the only being with the potential to stop the disaster from spreading.
