Description

High school sweethearts Becca and Danny are finally moving in together, but a tight budget leaves them settling for a cheap little apartment in Black Bear Creek. The neighborhood is far from ideal, yet Becca has everything she thinks she needs: a home with the man she loves. To her, their relationship is perfect, and she has never seriously wondered whether she might be missing out. Even their sex life seems satisfying enough—she doesn’t reach orgasm during sex, but she enjoys making Danny feel good. Their neighbors, however, are another matter. Loud, cocky, and dark-skinned, they’re exactly the sort of men Becca’s father warned her to avoid. Tyrone, who lives next door, embodies everything she dislikes: crude manners, a disrespectful attitude, and a seemingly endless procession of women visiting his apartment. With paper-thin walls separating their homes, Becca and Danny hear every extravagant moan, night after night. The couple laugh it off. Surely those women are putting on a performance—nobody really sounds like that during sex. In Black Bear Creek, though, the noise next door leaves an awkward question hanging over Becca’s otherwise perfect picture of life with Danny: what if they aren’t faking?
