Description

November brings the first chill of winter to Kirihara Academy for Girls, a missionary boarding school hidden deep in the mountains of Japan. In Aoi Tori, this secluded campus is the entire world of Shiratori Ritsu, the school’s priest and the only male permitted on its grounds. He has never ventured beyond the academy’s boundaries, which shelter him from demons who covet him. Yet Ritsu possesses an extraordinary gift: his touch can bring bliss to others, and intimate contact makes that power even stronger. The academy’s girls regard Ritsu as their guardian angel and turn to him for comfort, a role he accepts under the weight of a painful loss. Haunted by a girl’s death, he has devoted himself to making others happy. But a life caught between sacred duty and sinful temptation has pushed his sanity to its limits, leaving him to question whether the happiness he offers can truly reach another person’s heart. His precarious existence changes with the arrival of Mary Harker, a hundred-year-old vampire who infiltrates the academy. Her appearance heralds another unexpected intrusion: a phone call from the devil. As Ritsu confronts questions about his power and the reason for his birth, Aoi Tori unfolds as a tale of life woven into prayer.
