The Hollow Hunt blends dark medieval mystery and horror in Vellmoor, an impoverished village on the edge of the Black Forest. Under the cold, harsh rule of Baron Ostric, the villagers face a growing terror: young women are vanishing, and a lantern-carrying killer roams the woods after nightfall. Caught in this danger are Teodric, a former clerk whose fearful nature is deepened by a haunting past, and his wife, Liva. A forester’s daughter, Liva is courageous, skilled with a sword, and regarded as the village’s most beautiful woman. She attracts the attention of every man in Vellmoor, many of whom make little effort to conceal their interest—a troubling backdrop to an already perilous mission. When Baron Ostric orders the couple to hunt down the killer, he assigns Lucan to accompany them. The village’s finest swordsman is also its worst character: he acts the loyal friend in Teodric’s presence, but drops the façade whenever Teodric turns away. With a card-based battle system, The Hollow Hunt pairs its sinister woodland mystery with the uneasy tensions among its central characters.
