Tool wLib — Open-Source Game Manager for F95Zone (Linux & Windows)
Description
wLib is a free, open-source game manager for F95Zone that brings your library, updates, installations and launch options together on Linux and Windows, with support for Steam Deck in Desktop Mode. Created as an alternative to Windows-only managers such as XLibrary, it runs Windows games through Wine or Proton on Linux and launches them directly on Windows. Organize games with cover art, tags, ratings, personal notes and play status, while built-in playtime tracking records how long you spend with each title. Custom collections appear as tabs above your library, and saved filters and sorting preferences let you return to your favorite views with a click. A wishlist tracks games you have not installed and notifies you when they are marked Completed on F95Zone. For games you have finished, wLib remembers the completed version and highlights later updates in the New since finished collection. Games with multiple parts can have several executables, with one designated as the default for the Play button. Library-wide update checks compare your installed versions with F95Zone and retrieve missing details from game threads. Install games or updates from downloaded .zip, .7z or .rar archives, and wLib places them in your library folder, transfers saves and removes the previous version; it also detects matching archives in your Downloads folder. The Updates page can check for new releases of wLib itself. Existing libraries can be imported from F95Checker, Atlas or XLibrary, while single-file backups let you restore everything on another computer, including transfers between Linux and Windows, with optional passphrase protection. To keep multiple computers in sync, use a shared folder through services such as Syncthing or MEGA, or connect through Dropbox or Google Drive, with optional encryption. File paths and launch settings remain local to each machine. wLib identifies game engines from the F95Zone thread or game folder and supports Ren’Py, Unity, Unreal, Godot, RPG Maker XP, VX, MV and MZ, Wolf RPG, and native Linux games. On Windows, it runs .exe, .bat and .cmd files directly, launches .jar games through Java and opens HTML games in your browser. Linux users can select native execution, Wine, Proton or an RPG Maker Linux runner for each game. Linux features also include automatic fixes for common black-screen issues in RPG Maker and NW.js games, a Japanese locale option, a Wayland toggle, one-click installation of common runtimes—including DirectX, VC++ redistributables, fonts and RPG Maker RTPs—and optional Cheat Engine support for Wine and Proton games. The self-updating Chrome and Firefox extension adds Add to wLib, Wishlist and Open in wLib buttons to F95Zone threads, connecting browsing with library management. Getting started is straightforward: Windows users can choose an MSI installer or portable ZIP, while Linux packages include AppImage, .deb, .rpm and tar.gz, with wlib-bin available through the AUR for Arch users. After opening wLib, follow the browser setup instructions in the Extension tab, then add games from F95Zone threads, enter them manually, install from an archive or import an existing library. Point each game to its executable once for one-click launching afterward. Light and dark themes and adjustable text size help tailor the interface, and no account or telemetry is involved. The app, interface and extension are all open source, and your library is stored on your own computer. An independent project unaffiliated with F95Zone, wLib welcomes support through GitHub stars, bug reports, feedback and feature requests.
