Metastasis is a psychological horror game about an ordinary middle-aged man whose terminal diagnosis becomes a terrifying erosion of his identity. Alex Kane—the protagonist’s default name—learns that he has two inoperable brain tumors. Rather than bringing a swift end to his life, they gradually overtake his consciousness, warping his sense of reality and unleashing impulses rooted in absolute control, sadism, sexual violence, and the destruction of everything he once cherished. As his condition worsens, Alex experiences hallucinations in which the tumors address him as separate entities. His struggle to preserve what remains of his humanity unfolds alongside the devastation spreading through his family, drawing those closest to him into roles as victims, accomplices, and mirrors of his own collapse. More than a story about brain cancer, Metastasis explores the fragile boundary between a person’s sense of self and the monstrosity that may have been waiting beneath it all along.
