In Yuusha To Maou To, Majo No Café, the land of Filiaswald is governed by Aria, the goddess of light, and Anri, the goddess of darkness. A lengthy war between their opposing forces once reached its climax in a showdown between the hero Fiona and the demon king Astaroth. Yet the outcome remained a mystery: both combatants disappeared without a trace, leaving no one to tell how their battle ended. Ten years later, a young man with no memory of his past wanders through a forest and comes upon Café Sorcière, a small coffee shop and inn. Its polite but remarkably innocent owner, Assam, runs the establishment with three cheerful witches-in-training: Rufuna, earnest and easily fooled; Candy, small in stature but motherly in nature; and Eliya, quiet and lazy. They name the stranger Tarou and put him to work at the café while he tries to recover his memories. Life at Café Sorcière soon becomes a lively mix of awkward encounters, compromising situations, helping those in need, and adventures that even involve fighting monsters. Along the way, Tarou befriends Apple, a girl from a nearby town who becomes a regular customer, and Pecoe, a miniature forest faerie. Surrounded by warmth and daily surprises, he finds himself worrying less about his missing past and enjoying the happiness of the present. But beneath this comfortable new life, something begins to stir. Tarou repeatedly dreams of battling the demon king and of the hero attacking the demon king’s castle, only to forget those visions when he wakes. As subtle changes begin to surface within him, the girls at his side are drawn into a powerful current of fate, threatening to sweep their peaceful days into a much larger mystery.
