Description

In The Assessor’s Ledger, survival is a precarious business in Theria, a dark medieval world roamed by monster girls. Within the city of Aethelgard, you serve as the Assessor—a mid-level bureaucrat whose authority can destroy a life or spare it with a conveniently averted gaze. You are neither a mighty warrior nor an untouchable official, but a tired man with enough power to make yourself useful—and vulnerable to compromise. Your tools are a ledger, a silver badge, and a pendulum capable of detecting the world’s newly awakened magic, which the law has already forbidden. What begins as routine assessment work draws you into a dangerous web of criminal syndicates, illicit sorcery, and powerful women who know precisely how to persuade a man to abandon his principles. Duty and desire pull in opposing directions, leaving little room for a clean conscience. At its heart, The Assessor’s Ledger follows a weary, corruptible man trying to endure a harsh world. In Aethelgard, the distance between enforcing the law and looking the other way can be uncomfortably small, especially when survival is at stake.
