Siren Song

Description

Siren Song follows Charlotte Cooper, better known as Charlie, a fun-loving, impulsive young woman whose ideal summer involves sunshine, beach days, and time with her two best friends, Kim and Sabrina. When she isn’t sunbathing, posting on Instacam, or streaming herself playing video games on Switch, she’s counting down to her eighteenth birthday, just a few days away. But her plans unravel when her mother, Rachel, has to travel overseas for work. Charlie’s past misadventures with her friends have left Rachel unwilling to let her stay home alone for months, no matter how strongly Charlie argues otherwise. Charlotte’s names can all be changed in-game. Enter Bobby, the playable main character, Charlotte’s father, and Rachel’s estranged husband, whose name is also customizable. A singer-songwriter for most of his adult life, Bobby has spent years pursuing music, leaving him largely absent from Charlotte’s world and earning her distance and resentment. He began as a guitarist in punk rock bands, touring the country a few times, releasing records, and enjoying the ride before discovering his true passion in acoustic guitar and a solo career. Since then, he has released several albums and toured internationally with numerous bands. Although mainstream stardom has eluded him, some regard him as a major influence on folk-rock—a reputation his daughter knows nothing about. Instead of spending the summer on the beach, Charlie finds herself heading out on tour with Bobby, and the prospect of being stuck in a van with her dad is hardly appealing. It falls to Bobby to rebuild their bond and help her discover the pleasures of travel and making music. Fortunately for him, Charlie may share more of her father’s spirit than Rachel realizes. Set in the “Jonesy” universe, Siren Song takes place approximately five or six years before the events of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day(e).
