Description

A pair of prize tickets promises a seaside getaway at a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn. When a son shares the news with his mother, she is delighted—but he feels a little uneasy. At thirty-eight, she looks remarkably young, and even he recognizes that she is attractive. What worries him most, however, is her gentle, easily influenced nature: when someone puts pressure on her, she struggles to say no. Despite his reservations, the two head to the beach, with the son determined to stay alert. Yet it takes only a moment of looking away for other men to approach his mother and begin overstepping her boundaries. With a pushy playboy entering the picture and her son still nearby, the holiday takes an uncomfortable turn, putting her difficulty standing up for herself at the center of the story.
