Description

Ten years ago, magic abruptly emerged in the modern world—but its arrival brought far more hardship than wonder. Shortened lifespans, discrimination, and wars have left humanity struggling with the consequences. In Dissension, a city where magic influences everyday life, you’ve spent the past five months living under one seemingly unbreakable rule: only women can wield it. You are Lux, one of the extraordinarily rare men with the potential to use magic, though every attempt so far has come to nothing. An invitation draws you into the Paranormal Events Club, or P.E.C., a small, chaotic group whose work takes them beneath the surface of ordinary life. Alongside them, you become involved in the pursuit of curses, spirits, monsters, and secrets that most people never see. As Dissension’s many mysteries begin to converge, rumors point toward an unseen force known as Akasha—or The Library. The deeper you venture into this hidden world, the harder it becomes to ignore the questions surrounding it. What is causing these strange events, and why do some of them seem connected to you?
