We Are Bandits 2 is an unconventional RPG built around a merchant who secretly works against the warriors hired to protect him. Young and talented in business, the protagonist hides a malicious desire to see his escorts defeated and humiliated by the bandits they encounter. Unaware of his intentions, these protectors risk their lives for an employer who is actively undermining them. Rather than placing you in direct command of a fighter, the game makes manipulation and betrayal central to its dark premise. There are no standard “Fight,” “Defend,” or “Escape” commands. Instead, your battle options are “Watch,” “Intervene,” and “Item.” Interference can involve shouting, embracing, or clinging to an escort to disrupt her actions, while covert tactics include inflicting status ailments, diverting items, tampering with equipment, and interfering with drinking water and rest. The merchant can also cooperate with the distinctive “Mohicans” bandits through secret arrangements. Maintaining his escorts’ trust is essential: he must avoid being abandoned while using their confidence in him to conceal his sabotage. This installment centers on the theme of “Comeback.” Its four warrior women possess considerable strength, and an initial defeat does not end their struggle. Instead, they draw resolve from their humiliation, grow stronger, and rise to fight again. Breaking each warrior’s determination requires three defeats, making their resilience an ongoing obstacle to the merchant’s schemes. The story follows this conflict between determined protectors and their treacherous employer toward a final outcome that reaches across the town.
