In Apostle: Rebellion, humanity’s future takes shape amid the wreckage of centuries of conflict. The seemingly endless war between Exodus and Magna, which had raged since 2065, finally ended with the dissolution of Exodus and the world’s nations abandoning Almakarta. Peace would not last. In 2140, overpopulation and climate change triggered a global food crisis, igniting World War III. The devastating fighting erased entire nations, reduced Earth to ruins, and drove the global population down from billions to only a few hundred million. In the aftermath, survivors began gathering together, eventually forming the megalopolis of Neo-Eden. Within its boundaries, a new military company emerged under a familiar name: Exodus. Its mission was to forge a new future for humanity by merging human beings with machines. These cybernetically enhanced people became known as Roids. Though the process of “Roiding” initially sparked controversy, its overwhelming advantages soon won people over, and Roids eventually came to outnumber unmodified humans. Now, in the year 2200, the promise of a renewed civilization is under strain. Social inequality is once again driving humanity toward its breaking point, casting a shadow over a society transformed by cybernetic advancement. Against this troubled backdrop, Apostle: Rebellion presents a future where technological progress has not put an end to humanity’s deepest divisions.
