The Iris Indigo keeps its premise simple: you work as a house-handler at the hostel that gives the game its name, taking care of basic housekeeping duties while meeting people from a variety of backgrounds. These everyday tasks provide the framework for the experience, with an approach intended to keep the work from feeling like a chore. At the center of the story is Amelie Ackermann, a 35-year-old woman who previously worked as a high-tier prostitute at The Soaring Clouds, one of the most notorious clubs. Having found a way out of that system, she now has the chance to live on her own terms. Yet leaving her former life behind has not erased its effects: years of service have severely strained her mental health, leaving her on the brink of losing her sanity. Against the ordinary routines of hostel life, The Iris Indigo places a protagonist carrying a difficult past. Its straightforward housekeeping gameplay and encounters with people of different backgrounds form the setting for Amelie’s attempt to build an independent life while facing the psychological toll of the years she left behind.
