Description

Scorched Innocence follows 18-year-old Emily during the sweltering summer after her high school graduation. Hoping for a quiet break, she instead loses her home to a fire and must move with her mother into the estate of Charles, her mother’s boss. A lonely, wealthy man, Charles offers them shelter in return for help maintaining his large property. But what initially looks like a lifeline soon becomes unsettling: Emily begins to suspect that her circumstances are not simply bad luck, and that someone has been carefully steering her life. Abandoned by her father before she could remember him, Emily has grown up watching her mother struggle to keep their lives together. Now Charles uses money, influence, debt, and blackmail to tighten his control over them both. His fixation on Emily drives a campaign of manipulation, including lies designed to turn her mother’s concern into another obstacle to freedom. Searching for work offers no easy escape, as employers, clients, and even friends expose her to further exploitation. Your choices shape Emily’s response to this increasingly dangerous situation. The story explores coercion, sexual exploitation, corruption, and humiliation, with routes involving workplace harassment, transactional relationships, prostitution, voyeurism, hidden cameras, and sexual violence. Will Emily uncover the truth behind her apparent misfortune and find a way out, or become more deeply entangled in Charles’s plans? Scorched Innocence places that struggle for autonomy at the center of a dark, choice-driven narrative.
