Description

KARAKARA takes place in the “Age of Dusk,” a time when humanity is fading and hybrids called the “Others”—human, yet not quite human—have become widespread. Its title evokes the sounds of a parched world: sandy winds, dry asphalt, and the unrelenting heat of the sun. Across these windswept barrens, small communities continue to make a living on land that has become unfamiliar, finding reasons to carry on despite the decline around them. Far from the center of town, two people run a modest diner beside a highway. For them, the changes that shaped the world matter less than preparing enough lunch boxes for their delivery rounds. Keeping customers fed keeps their own business alive, and the steady demands of the diner give their days a comforting rhythm. That routine is interrupted on the way home from a delivery, when they discover a large suitcase beside the road. Resting motionless on top of it is a young girl with pink hair. Against this dry and dwindling landscape, KARAKARA tells a story of companionship and romance, of people easing one another’s loneliness even when the world offers little comfort. Developed by calme and released on June 15, 2016, this short visual novel offers approximately 2–10 hours of reading, with English and Japanese text and Japanese voice acting. Also known by its Japanese title, カラカラ, it features 2D CG artwork and censored adult content, and is followed by the sequel KARAKARA 2.
