Coffee Story draws you into a lewd, surreal dreamworld inhabited by strange monsters, where changes made in dreams gradually seep into waking life. For the hapless protagonist, this becomes deeply personal when he wakes from an unusual dream and discovers that he is slowly transforming into the mysterious girl he encountered there. Facing an involuntary male-to-female transformation, he adopts a false identity and blends in as a new girl at school while searching for a way to reverse the changes before they become permanent. He turns to his friends Yuri, Kari, and Nanami for support, only to uncover their own complicated connections to dreams and reality. Yuri is plagued by relentless nightmares and believes his presence in her dreams could offer rare moments of peace. Nanami embraces the dreamworld as a fantastical refuge from the hardships of her life, while Kari conceals a dark, fractured psyche. Inspired by Yume Nikki, .flow, LSD Dream Emulator, and other works, Coffee Story brings together surreal situations, shifting identities, and a dreamscape whose influence reaches far beyond sleep.
