First Fire takes you back 300,000 years, to a winter that arrives before its time. The river has frozen before the leaves have fallen, the herds are thinning, and Tau’s band faces a season it may not survive. Inside their cave, every flame comes from the same fire, preserved and passed from hand to hand for generations. No one knows how to kindle a new one, making the embers they protect essential to their survival. You play as Tau, a tall, restless young hunter who notices what the elders overlook. As hunger and cold threaten the band, you must survive the winter and earn the trust of people whose time is running short. Along the way, grow closer to the women around you: a fire keeper who knows every secret, a stubborn young female hunter determined to have a spear of her own, a gossip, a widow, and a stranger from the north. Amid the struggle to endure, Tau also faces a possibility no one around him has mastered: making fire himself. Choices can carry consequences that surface chapters later, while hunger, bitter weather, rivals, and slow-burning romances shape life within the band.
